Chrisanthemom is foremost a pun, being that my mother’s name is Chrisan, and this book is published in her honor and dedicated to her, on the occasion of Mother’s Day. I have crossed her biological name with the name by which she is oh so tenderly called, Mom, to coin an intricate yet suitable name for the first book that had initiated the stride of proficiently becoming her voice. (Chrisan +The+ Mom = Chrisanthemom.)
Chrisanthemom is a Book of poetry that offers an array of Poems that depict the various aspects of women and are all dedicated to women at large.
Additionally, the flower Chrysanthemum is a beautiful plant that belongs to the family of Daisies. There is a wide range of species of Chrysanthemums, in a manner of representing the many attributes of a woman: Mother and Wife, just to name a few.
Interestingly, Chrysanthemum is also known as ‘mum,’ and the term “Chrysanthemum” is coined from the Greek words ‘chrysos,’ which means gold, and ‘anthos,’ which means flower. The flower Chrysanthemum, like mothers, is oftentimes the essence of ornaments, and it also has numerous medical properties. So just like mothers, the flower Chrysanthemum is a very beautiful display of therapeutic substance.
Chrisanthemom entails several poems which all depict different attributes of a woman: Strong, Bold, Weary, Pulchritudinous, Empathizing, Philosophical, Sacrificial, Nurturing, and even Bitter, just to name a few.
Specific selections of Chrisanthemom depict the woman as weary, and even bitter, as she sees the world from a unique perspective. And throughout the captivating span of her colorful life, her display of empathy, long-suffering, and selfless sacrifices exceed the limits of motherhood, gaining her the noble title of a Bitter Woman, more specifically, a Bitter Black Woman, resulting from the preferences, personal relations and choices of the Author. The poems: Bitter Black Woman, in their sequential order, are not written in a satirical nature, but rather, to solemnly express gratitude to the person they honorably depict.
Additionally, the poems Bitter Black Woman, personify a woman who, though burdened and bound to her ongoing troubles and obstacles, views life with enthusiasm, and in spite of her oppression, she not only smiles continuously, but dutifully embraces herself and all her loved ones with endless care.
Chrisanthemom’s aim is to typify the journey of a woman’s world, interpreting the struggles and highlighting the capabilities and strengths engraved in the wonderful and vital being God named Woman.
